About

The mission of The Gainesville Shaw Society (GSS) is to ignite within the hearts and minds of our community, a passion for social activism through the presentation of works by George Bernard Shaw. By producing an annual Shavian Show, and subsequent Shavian Shindigs we hope to enrich the lives of our members and guests. The topics of human rights, critical questioning, and individual action are only a few examples of the poignant points covered in the works of George Bernard Shaw. The actors playing his parts receive a rare opportunity to shine through his meaningful and challenging scripts, and the audience is able to witness a modern masterpiece. Secretly, however, we at The Gainesville Shaw Society just want to hang out with intelligent interesting people :)

The Gainesville Shaw Society is a club that was created by Dean Avery and Krsnaa Fitch in February of 2013. They began by producing "GENEVA" in May 2013, and are preparing for "Saint Joan" this coming April.

Krsnaa was inspired by her three year internship with the great David Staller of The Gingold Theatrical Group in New York City. David Staller produced readings of all of Shaw's plays through his Project Shaw http://www.projectshaw.com/  These magnificent shows were performed by Broadway actors at the historical Players Club in Gramercy Park. Seeing the timeless words of Shaw spoken by such talent, Krsnaa was inspired to share that singular experience with others.
